Published in October 2008, this 24-page A4 supplement provides a comprehensive update of the progress of the new 14 to 19 Diplomas. It is essential reading for schools that began the delivery of Diplomas in September 2008, and for schools that are set to begin delivery in the coming years.
Published in September 2008 in conjunction with the General Teaching Council for England, this 16-page A4 supplement looks at the vast array of challenges facing the modern teacher. It tackles issues such as engaging parents, the new code of conduct for teachers, collaborative working within and outside of school, CPD, and the Every Child Matters agenda
Published in September 2008 in conjunction with the exam board OCR, this 20-page A4 supplement previews the raft of changes that are currently being implemented when it comes to GCSEs. It tackles topics such as controlled assessment, disability legislation, a timeline for the GCSE changes, creativity within the curriculum and global citizenship.
Published in September 2008 in conjunction with the NASUWT teaching union, this 16-page A4 supplement offers advice and information about ensuring teachers can do their jobs safely. It tackles everything from false accusations, cyber-bullying, health and safety, school trips, workload and stress, behaviour management, and site security.
Building schools for the future
Published in May 2008, this 20-page A4 supplement offers advice and support to all schools that either going through, or are about to embark on, the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme. It looks at best practice and innovation in current BSF schools, with advice from heads, architects and ICT experts as well as a number of case studies, including a focus on how to effectively involve your students in the process.
Published in April 2008 in conjunction with exam board OCR this 20-page A4 supplement provided an update on the GCSE changes currently being implement. It offered a subject analysis, information on flexible assessment, controlled assessment and functional skills.
Published in February 2008, this supplement previews the 2008 Education Show. While the show is now over, the 20-page A4 supplement features a range of articles about ICT best practice and innovation that teachers may still find of use in the classroom.
Published in February 2008 in conjunction with the National Strategies and in the run up to the 2008 Education Show, this 16-page supplement offered an update for teachers and heads of the work the Strategies is undertaking in the secondary arena. It covered the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning, English as an Additional Language, teaching of the core subjects, and inclusion.
Published in January 2008 in conjunction with the NASUWT teaching union, this eight-page A3 supplement helps schools to effectively cater for and implement the equalities agenda. It explains the equalities legislations that affects schools and tackles issues such as fair recruitment practices, community cohesion and also offers advice to faith schools.
Published in December 2007 by SecEd and our sister magazine 5to7 Educator, previewed the 2008 BETT educational technology show that took place in London in January 2008. While the show is now over, the 40-page A4 supplement features a range of articles about ICT best practice and innovation that teachers may still find of use in the classroom.
Published in November 2007 in conjunction with the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust and in the run up to the organisation’s 2007 annual conference, this supplement delved into the theme of the event – Sustaining our future. It looked at sustainable learning, communities, schools, how to sustain excellence through specialism and sustaining achievement and improvement. It features a number of useful school case studies.
Published in October 2007 in conjunction with the NASUWT teaching union, this eight-page A3 supplement focused on the remodeling agenda, offering information, advice and support. It details what the National Agreement says and means for schools and teachers, looks at school case studies sharing good practice, the use of school support staff, and the external services and agencies that schools can use to help implement the agenda.
Published in September 2007 in conjunction with the Department for Children, Schools and Families, this eight-page A3 supplement focuses on delivering the new curriculum for 11 to 19-year-olds. It looked at Diplomas, personalised learning, the focus on skills and the new secondary curriculum.
Published in September 2007 in conjunction with the General Teaching Council for England, this 16-page A4 and following up the previous year’s NQT supplement. This publication looks at second year teacher and continues to offer practical advice and support. It focuses on CPD, career paths, how to cope without your NQT support, and offers advice on SEN and behaviour management.
Published in April 2007 in conjunction with the NASUWT teaching union, this eight-page A3 supplement provides information, advice and practical guidance for teachers and schools on managing pupil behaviour. It looked at the implications of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, prejudice-related bullying, low-level disruption, cyber-bullying, the Safer Schools campaign and featured a number of school case studies.

It looks at personalised learning, the role of technology and CPD. It also focuses on teacher-led research and the GTCE’s Teacher Learning Academy.

Published in February 2007 in conjunction with the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, this eight-page A3 supplement focused on explaining the 14 to 19 reforms with a focus on the new Diplomas, the Qualifications and Credit Framework, and the skills agenda – including functional skills and personal, learning and thinking skills.
Secondary curriculum review explained
Published in February 2007 in conjunction with the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, this eight-page A3 supplement detailed what the progress to that point that had been made with the ongoing review of the secondary curriculum. While the review has obviously moved on and the new secondary curriculum is now being implement, the supplement still offers some useful advice and information in this area.

Published in September 2005, this 24-page guide offers advice and information for those planning school trips. There are recommendations for trips right across the UK and while some of the information will be dated, teachers may still pick up some useful ideas from the publication.
